CoasterMania 2013 - 6/7/2013
Yesterday Sarah and I drove from Harrisburg, Pennsylvania to Cedar Point and stayed overnight at Hotel Breakers. This morning we were
up early to begin a full day at Cedar Point for CoasterMania 2013.
Registration began at seven o'clock at the main gate. We picked up our lanyards and headed to ERT for GateKeeper and Millennium Force
from 7:30 to 9:00. There was also ERT on Raptor, Iron Dragon and Mantis from 8:00 to 9:00. And finally there was ERT on Blue
Streak, Wicked Twister and WindSeaker from 9:00 to 10:00.
The park open to the general public at 10:00 and we enjoyed several more rides.
At lunch we joined David and his family for complimentary buffet lunch at Point Pavillion. Also during lunch Cedar Point gave away
GateKeeper jackets to each and every CoasterMania attendee.
After lunch Sarah and I returned to the hotel for a nap. Once rested we were back to the park for more rides.
As we returned to the park Sarah saw on Twitter that Tony Clark was about to give away special prizes to some lucky Twitter followers.
We follow the clues and raced to meet Tony near Maverick. He was giving away an exclusive ride on Maverick to the first eight people to
show him the tweet on their mobile device. Sarah was one of the eight. Tony escorted the eight riders up to the coaster and gave
them all front of the line access. He also gave each one a collectible CoasterMania buttons. The special Maverick riders had
their photo posted on Twitter.
As evening came we slowed down and took in the sights and sounds of the park.
At 9:30 we watched Luminosity.
The park closed to the general public at 10:00 but the CoasterMania fun wasn't over yet. We had ERT on Corkscrew, Mine Ride, Gemini
and Mean Streak from 10:30 to 1:30. There was also ERT on Top Thrill Dragster, Maverick and Magnum from 10:30 to 12:30. It was
during the ERT that Sarah took her first ride on Top Thrill Dragster. She enjoyed enough to get right back in line and went for a
second straight lap.
Our week of amusement parks and roller coaster fun had come to an end. Tomorrow we are headed home.
