Not Me

No, I didn't play Brooks Hatlen

I was not born in White Plains, New York in 1921 and I did not appear in The Shawshank Redemption.  Which is a really great movie, by the way.  I most certainly do not have a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame at 6611 1/2 Hollywood Boulevard.  I did not die in Malibu, California on February 6, 2009.

Not me in VietnamNor was I in the Army

I was not born outside Cleveland in the town of Elyria, Ohio on October 18th 1946.

I was never drafted into the United States Army to service as a private first class in the 4th Infantry Division.  My tour of duty in Vietnam did not begin on Friday, August 25, 1967 and lasted 77 days.  I was not killed on the ground by hostile gunfire in the provincial capital city of Kontum, South Vietnam on Thursday, November 9, 1967.

Not on the wallI'm not memorialized on the wall

My name does not appear on line 64 of panel 29E of the Vietnam War Memorial on the National Mall in Washington, DC along with those of over fifty-eight thousand brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in the service of the United State of America.
