Cloud Atlas - 11/2/2012
This evening Sarah and I went to AMC Easton Town Center 30 in Columbus to see Cloud Atlas in IMAX. This science-fiction drama
starred Tom Hanks, Halle Berry, Jim Broadbent, Hugo Weaving, Jim Sturgess, Doona Bae, Susan Sarandon and Hugh Grant.
This film is six different stories over different time periods where each story is connected to the others. The actors play up to six
different roles spanning different times, races, ages and even sexes.
The connection between stories are not as critical as I would have liked or as much as the trailers implied. It is as if there are
common themes that flow through each story. You might expect that a film that shifts back and forward between all them separate storylines
would be confusing and hard to follow, but that is not the case. The cuts between stories are very well done and even poetic at times,
even in the middle of a high-energy action sequence.
The acting, music, effects, editing are all very good. Each of the stories are good and added together they are good as well.
But that is it; good. Not great.
This is a great movie. Go check it out.
