Steepest Street in the United States - 6/22/2025
This afternoon on my way home from Shawn and Brian's house, I made a quick stop at Canton Avenue in Pittsburgh's Beechview
neighborhood. This is recognized as the steepest officially recorded public street in the United States.

The avenue was originally laid out as First Avenue in 1903 and later renamed Canton Avenue in 1908 by a borough
ordinance. The street has appeared in television commercials and is part of the annual Dirty Dozen cycling race, held
annually in October with the event covering over 50 miles and featuring 13 of the steepest hills in the Pittsburgh area.
