Columbus Zoo and Zoombezi Bay - 6/29/2025

Today Crissy, Jake, Emma, Sarah and I spent the day at the Columbus Zoo and Zoombezi Bay.  We all met at Sarah's apartment in Blacklick where we all loaded up into one car for the drive to the zoo in Powell.  We arrived at about noon and made our way into the zoo.  Our visit began with mostly sunny skies and high temperatures, but as the afternoon continued the sky became progressively more cloudy and overcast.

We explored the North America section first.

Next we continued on to the Heart of Africa area.  This is a completely new section added to the zoo since my last visit.

Asia Quest was next on your journey and then onto Shores & Aquarium, Australia & The Islands and Congo Expedition.

Our final stop at the zoo was Adventure Cove where we rode the roller coasters.  Crissy, Emma and I first rode Tidal Twist.

Tidal Twist

A good family coaster from Zamperla with spinning cars.  It opened at the zoo in 2021 making it the first zoo in the US to feature two roller coasters.

Next, Emma and I rode Sea Dragon.

Sea Dragon

This John C. Allen wooden coaster opened in 1956, making it the oldest roller coaster operating in Ohio.  Being the closest coaster to my home, it's surprising that I didn't ride this coaster until today.  A classic family coaster with a figure-eight layout and hand operated brakes.

We exited the zoo around 4:30 and headed next door to Zoombezi Bay.

For the next two hours we spent our time enjoying the slides, wave pool, and lazy rivers throughout the waterpark.

At about 6:30 we decided it was time to head out and as we made our way back to the car.  The skies opened up and released a torrential downpour.

We all enjoyed our day at the zoo and the waterpark.  It was a fun and relaxing time with family.
