Cedar Point and The Boardwalk - 5/18/2023
This morning I made my way to Cedar Point for the first of two solo days at the park. I arrived shortly after
opening at 10 o'clock, and walked immediately to the park's new themed area, The Boardwalk.
This newly reimagined area of the park stretches from WindSeeker to GateKeeper. The highlight additions are
the Grand Pavilion restaurant and bar and Wild Mouse.
The new Wild Mouse is a twisting family coaster with spinning cars. With a nod to the original Wild Mouse
coaster, that operated at the park from 1959 to 1963. The colorful ride has names for each of the six cars
with the seventh being cheese. Ziggy, Zaggy, Mazey, Dizzy, Chase and Larry. And the cheese car has a
special door that makes it ADA accessible. Each 4-passenger car climbs 52 feet, crests the lift hill and
begins a twisting, spinning and wild journey along 1,312 feet of orange track and yellow supports.

The other rides along the Boardwalk include Troika, Dodgem and Giant Wheel. Two existing family rides,
Matterhorn and Scrambler, were relocated from the main midway to The Boardwalk with Scrambler receiving a refresh
and new name: Atomic Scrambler. Tiki Twirl spinning ride was also refreshed and renamed as former park
classic Calypso.
WindSeeker, Troika and Giant Wheel.
Matterhorn.
GateKeeper.
Calypso.
The original Grand Pavilion, opened in 1888, served as the center of entertainment for thousands of summer
visitors. Cedar Point Grand Pavilion, a new and modern version, has many characteristics of the
original. The gorgeous bi-level anchor to The Boardwalk is the premier gathering place at Cedar Point.

On the first level, the restaurant is a showcase of fresh creations, including a multitude of choices, such
as dry-rubbed pork loin, slow-roasted turkey breast, funnel cake fried shrimp, beer-battered fish and carved
rotisserie sandwiches. Shaved brussel slaw, steak fries, marinated cucumber, noodle salad, tropical fried
rice and rotating choices are the perfect accompaniment to your entree. There is plenty of indoor seating
available.
Upstairs, the waterfront bar offers unparalleled views of Cedar Point and the Lake Erie shoreline with frozen
and traditional beverages, all enjoyable from one of three outdoor viewing decks.
Throughout the day I was able to get rides on Iron Dragon, Gemini, Magnum, Power Tower, Millennium Force,
GateKeeper, Valravn, Raptor, Blue Streak, Cedar Creek Mine Ride, Skyhawk and Steel Vengeance.
While I was in the queue for Iron Dragon, I could see the new footers that were poured over this past off-season
for the 2024 reimagining of Top Thrill Dragster.
Three footers that could be for a triangular tower to support a reverse spike for a new launch system.
In this picture you can see that the middle of the three footers is in perfect alignment with the remaining track
of the original launch.
I'm very excited to see how TTD will be redesigned and get a new coaster experience next year. I'm 'Ready
to Go'.
After a full day in the park I checked into Cedar Point's Express Hotel for the night. For dinner, I ran
out for some chicken tenders from Raising Cane's.
Tomorrow, one more day at Cedar Point before heading home.
