Lake Huron - 11/12/2022

Shawn was going on one of his road trips to purchase used musical instruments and he invited me to go along.  So, yesterday I drove from Nelsonville and Shawn from Pittsburgh to meet in Cleveland.  And then this morning we headed to Michigan.

Along the drive there was a persistent light rain which turned to snow as we crossed into Michigan.

We drove through Detroit and north, past Port Huron to the small town of Croswell where Shawn picked up a marimba.  I was surprised how big it was, but even more surprised how it came apart and folded up so easily fit into the back of Shawn's car.

Looking at the map we realized that Lake Huron was nearby.  As I thought about it, I realized that I had never been to Lake Huron.  The road we were on was an east-west route so we decided that we would simply drive due east until we come upon the lake.  Just 5 miles later we were in downtown Lexington right at the water and the town's park.

We braved the strong, frigid wind to reach the water's edge at the beach and walk along the top of the sea wall.

In the park we found a wooden box with toys and frisbee to use in the park and on the beach.  Very Cool.

Next we returned to the center of Lexington just a block or two away.  We walked along the town's main street, and checked out the various shops, and found a nice restaurant to eat lunch.  Lexington feels like a fun lakeside destination, kind of an Athens and Hocking Hills vibe.

We drove back to Detroit and a little more shopping before finding our hotel room in Dearborn.  It was a good day relaxing, shopping and sightseeing.
