 Top Gun: Maverick - 5/26/2022
Today Derek, Crissy, Jake, Owen and I met at AMC Easton Town Center in Columbus to watch Top Gun:
Maverick. We chose this theater over a month ago so that we could experience this movie in Dolby
Cinema. This action movie starred Tom Cruise, Miles Teller, Jennifer Connelly, Jon Hamm, Glen Powell,
Lewis Pullman, Ed Harris and Val Kilmer.
This movie does two things very well at the same time. It tells a complete and stand-alone story of its
own, while also giving fans of the prior movie all the perfect beats of nostalgia.
Set thirty years after the 1986 Top Gun, this story gives a very good reason why the main character isn't an
admiral by now. And in this movie he is tasked with training a new group of pilots for a unique
mission. As the pilots train, the audience is given all the information needed to follow the trajectory
of the climax of the film without it feeling like they are being beaten over the head with boring
exposition. With great editing, music and exceptional cinematography, this movie excels.
It's a great ride. This is a great movie and you should go see it.
