The Suicide Squad - 8/8/2021
This evening Sarah and I went to movies 10 in Nelsonville to watch The Suicide Squad. This DC
movie starred Margot Robbie, Idris Elba, John Cena, Viola Davis, Daniela Melchior and Joel Kinnaman.
Is the movie a sequel or a reboot... I can't say. Lots of action, some good moments of character development
and a predictable plot. The choice of characters that appear in this movie and their visual design is quite
baffling. At several times when my suspension of disbelief was lost as the movie was, well... stupid.
Margot Robbie is excellent in this film. Her character, the eternally twisted Harley Quinn, goes on an
adventure of her own and it is awesome. Daniela Melchior as Ratcatcher 2 does a great job too.
Now that Deadpool has proven that a rated-R superhero movie can make money, DC has jumped onto the R-rated
bandwagon. But where Deadpool's content felt as a natural part of the character and movie, The Suicide Squad's
strong violence, gore, exsesive blood and brief graphic nudity seemed to serve no real purpose. I'm not being
a prude. It's just pointless testosterone-driven filler.
This is a good movie if you don't have a brain.
