Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close - 1/20/2012
Tonight Jenny and I went to see Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close at Movies 10 in Nelsonville. This drama starred Tom Hanks,
Sandra Bullock, Thomas Horn and Max von Sydow.
This movie tells the story of a boy whose father is killed on 9/11. He searches to find the lock to a key his father left behind. It is a
very well told story and the film is creatively structured to tell the events of 9/11 throughout the film and not all at once, as not to overwhelm the
audience with the tragedy of that day.
The search by the quirky boy starts as intriguing. After a while the search begins to become tiresome and the boy a tad annoying. In the
end the search suddenly becomes completely pointless and utterly meaningless. The final reconciliation with his mother isn't triumphant or
uplifting.
The movie had great expectations and Hanks and Bullock were great. But the story just isn't up to the caliber of the actors. In spite of
the weak story it is still an OK movie. You might want to check it out.
