Halloweekends Day One - 10/8/2010

I picked up Sarah early from school to begin our weekend at Cedar Point from their Halloweekends events.

We arrived in Sandusky and checked into our hotel before heading to the park.  The park opened at 6:00 and we arrived before that for early entry.

We rode a few rides before the haunts opened.  As we walked along Frontier Trail and I talk to Sarah about the trail becoming Fright Zone later in the evening.  Sarah said that it could be very scary because it was so open and spread out.  I told her that she would have to wait and see.

Around 7:30 we waited in the Iron Dragon midway for the Overlord to dispatch his minions and invite his victims.  Sarah was being all brave, standing in the event area.  That was at least until she saw the hordes of screamsters marching towards her.  She ran to the side clinging to my arm.  When the rally was over and the ghouls went their separate ways Sarah held onto me as the freaks marched passed us.

We waited near the entrance of Fright Zone just when it opened at 8:00.  The lights flashed and the music started.  We entered though the tunnel under Millennium Force.  Sarah was holding on tight as we made our way through the thick fog and passed the freaks.  Sarah didn't have any answer for me when I asked about how it's so scary if it so open and spread out.  At the end of the haunt Sarah was really scared by the trashcan that lights up and makes noise.  It was her favorite.  Unfortunately, this was the only haunt that Sarah was willing to talk through for the rest of the night.

We spent the rest of the night on rides and took in one show.  We stopped in at the Red Garter Saloon and saw The Edge of Madness: Still Crazy.

We had a good time and the evening weather was great chilly fall night.

Tomorrow... another day at Cedar Point.
