Avatar - 1/1/2010
Sarah and I went to the Athena Grand in Athens to see Avatar in 3D. This was my first time seeing a 3D film in Athens.
This is James Cameron's first film since Titanic was released over ten years ago. The cast includes Sam Worthington, Zoe
Saldana, Sigourney Weaver, Stephen Lang and Michelle Rodriguez.
The film has the most photo realistic computer generated images I've yet seen. The movement of the camera, the characters and
machinery are completely believable. In other films I've seen before the computer generated objects looked real enough, but didn't
move realistically. The objects didn't follow the laws of physics as well as I thought they should. In Avatar the physics
are dead on. It is a joy to watch the visuals in this movie. You can get lost in the beauty of the scenery and the realism of
this fantasy world.
The story is good and moves along and a good pace. The movie is over two-and-a-half hours long and you keep watching.
It's not a perfect film, but it's only off the mark a little bit.
