Cedar Point Redeems Itself - 8/21/2026
Today I made a solo trip to Cedar Point. The park opened at 10:00 and I arrived about a half hour later.
I made my way directly to Siren's Curse where the wait time was surprisingly only 30 minutes. However, there were two delays
in operations, one was for a sick guest. These made the overall wait about an hour. Up next was Top Thrill 2.
Again the wait time was astonishingly only 30 minutes. I then walked to Cedar Creek Mine Ride followed by lunch at Farmhouse
Kitchen and Grill. Afterwards, I rode Steel Vengeance with a wait time of 30 minutes. I'm astonished that I was able to see
three of the most popular coasters all with such short wait times. Operations were running great. One new aspect of this
speedy dispatching is the ride ops eagerness to get oncoming rides through the airgates as quickly as possible. The gates open
and they announce to step through quickly and very soon say the gates will be closing, then give a three second count down for the gates
to close. And at least once I saw ride ops grab the closing gates as a rider was taking too much time to enter.
Something new at the park that I saw was the theming around the former site of Snake River Falls. The ride closed in August 2024
and was then demolished during the 2024-2025 off season. So maybe this theme was here last year and I simply didn't notice. The
station and reservoir have been retained. Two boats from the defunct Snake River Expedition, which closed in September 2023, have
been repurposed and added into the remaining water basin as scenery. Additionally, atmospheric props and scenery for Frontier Town
have also been placed around the site, including creates, barrels and a windmill.
Throughout the afternoon I rode Magnum, Millennium Force, WindSeeker, Valravn, and for its 50th anniversary I rode Corkscrew.
For dinner I ate at Hugo's Italian Kitchen. As the afternoon turned to evening I got laps on GateKeeper and Raptor. And as
darkness fell I got my second ride of the day on Top Thrill 2. This may be one of the extremely rare opportunities that I have
ridden TT2 twice in the same day.
It was my plan to finish the day with a final ride on Siren's Curse. It was about 9:30 and the park was set to close in 30
minutes. I arrived at the coaster's entrance just to see that the ride was delayed due to maintenance. Fair enough. I
decided to head on out of the park with a ride on Sky Ride.
This was a really great day at Cedar Point. The weather and the crowd were great. But it was truly the park operations
that made this day special. The ride ops were on their game and I didn't see a single ride that was closed for the entire
day. Only temporary delays for maintenance or a sick guest. The park has completely redeemed itself from the terrible open
day experience Sarah and I had back in May.
I drove directly to the hotel for a good night's sleep and looking forward to another fun day at the park tomorrow.
