311 Birthday Concert - 8/24/2025

Sarah took me out in Downtown Columbus for my birthday this evening.  We parked in the Arena District and walked to the North Market and ate Nepalese dumplings from Momo Ghar for dinner.

We casually walked around the Arena District and to the Union Station arch at McFerson Commons.  Here Sarah gave me my birthday card.  Inside the card was written an additional special message.

What a great surprise of a 311 concert.  And on such a beautiful day.

So we walked to Kemba Live on Neil Avenue and joined the line for the doors to open at 6:00.  Once inside we found a spot on the lawn directly in front of the stage to enjoy the show.

Sitting on Saturn took the stage at 7:00.  And Badflower performed after that.

Right at nine 311 appeared from the darkness with a blast of music, raw energy and blinding lights as the band launched into their first number, turning the frenzied crowd into a sea of silhouettes.  The band played all of their recognizable songs from all throughout their extensive catalog.  Come Original, Creatures, Beyond the Gray Sky, You Wouldn't Believe, Amber, Beautiful Disaster, All Mixed Up, Misdirected Hostility, Don't Stay Home, Do You Right, Feels So Good and so many more.  And a few songs from their latest album.  All of the members, Nick, P-Nut, Chad, SA and Tim returned with full energy to the delight of everyone in attendance.  Also during the show P-Nut gave a great bass solo.  And Chad Sexton performed an extended drum solo of percussion acrobatics accompanied by a kaleidoscope of light.  The crowd stood throughout the entire 311 performance, singing along and thoroughly enjoying every minute.  The band finally wrapped up their encore at 10:35 and Sarah and I made our way out.

On the drive back to Sarah's apartment I told her that she has really painted herself into a corner by giving me such a continuous line of thoughtful, memorable and meaningful gifts.  I really enjoyed the concert and was so happy to share this experience with her.  Thank you so much Sarah.
