Knoebels Amusement Park with Sarah - 7/18/2025
Yesterday Sarah and I drove over six hours to begin our trip to Knoebels Amusement Park. After our night at the hotel
we were off today on our day of fun.
Knoebels didn't open until noon so I used the extra time to show Sarah the abandoned town of Centralia, Pennsylvania. I
visited here back in 2023, but this was Sarah's first time seeing this unique town of just five residents. We drove the
empty streets seeing the church, cemeteries, the municipal building and the two houses. We were there for under twenty
minutes and then we were off to the amusement park.
We arrived at Knoebels around 11:30 and the park was already bustling with families. We made our way to the central
ticket building where we received our all-day wrist bands and just before noon we were ready to hit the rides.

We joined the line for Flying Turns for our first ride of the day. I thought this would be a good choice to start with,
as the line was short and would eventually get long during the day since the coaster has low throughput.

The other roller coaster that we rode during the day included Phoenix, Black Diamond, Impulse and Twister.

For lunch we ate at the Alamo Restaurant. We both had the Rachel, a sandwich with turkey, Swiss cheese, cole slaw, and
Thousand Island dressing on rye bread. The Alamo was a great classic sit-down service restaurant with a lot of charm and
good service. We also found out that it has won awards for being the best amusement park restaurant.
Throughout the day the other attractions we rode were Haunted Mansion, Motor Boats, Scooters, Scenic Skyway, Giant Wheel,
Pioneer Train, Downdraft, Gasoline Alley, Paratrooper, Tea Cups, Tilt-A-Whirl, S&G Carousel, and Whipper.

The biggest surprise of the day was our discovery of Cosmotron. At face value it is simply a completely enclosed
Himalaya-style ride with lights and music. But Cosmotron is much more than the sum of its parts. A fast ride over
dips and bumps set to a spectacular show of lights and heart pounding music. Forward, backward and round we go. Sarah
and I enjoyed this ride so much that we circled back to it for a second ride.
We wrapped up our visit to the park about a half hour before closing, giving us a full day of great experiences and
memories. By the end of the day, we had taken two rides each on Phoenix and Twister which were truly spectacular wooden
coasters. I'm glad we had such perfect weather and a fantastic time with Sarah to introduce her to this amazing amusement
park.
