Kings Island and Cicadas - 6/6/2025
Today I made a solo trip to Kings Island for a day of roller coasters and thrill rides.
With beautiful weather I entered the park around 9:30. I started my day with a ride on The Beast, which has now become
sort of a tradition for me lately.

I didn't put any pressure on myself to hit all of the coasters. I simply went from one ride to the next casually riding
the ones that were open and didn't have long lines.
Everywhere I went in the park I was surrounded by the sound of the brood, especially in the more wooded areas. The
constant song sounded like a tiny maraca shaking at high speed that then faded into a noise like an electric buzz, and moved in
waves back and forth and circled around randomly every ten to twenty seconds. It was both annoying and beautiful at the
same time.

I made sure that I didn't ride any of the coasters in the front row. But even with this precaution I still managed to
get hit on my arm with a cicada.
As the afternoon moved on I continued my rides and eventually left the park at 5:15. It was a good day and the
park. And thanks to the cicadas, a quite memorable one too.
