2024 Subaru WRX Premium - 10/11/2024

Today I took delivery of my custom ordered 2024 Subaru WRX premium that I had placed a couple of months ago.  But the story of how I chose this car goes back several years.

Going back to the mid-2010s, I was searching for an all-wheel-drive replacement for my GMC Sonoma.  After a couple years of research, I finally took delivery of my 2018 Subaru Impreza in July of 2018.  Even at that time the WRX was my first choice.  But for some reason, I talked myself out of getting the car that I really wanted because I used the difference in gas mileage as an excuse to choose the Impreza over the WRX.  I even talked about this in my blog post from July 24th 2018.  The Impreza has been a completely reliable vehicle and has given me well over 100,000 miles of travel.  Not only on my daily drive to work but on numerous trips to amusement parks and visiting Sarah in Maryland.  The car has a lot of technology that I had never had in a car before and the price was exceptionally affordable.  As satisfied as I was with the Impreza, there was always a slight feeling of buyers regret in me for not getting the WRX instead.

The new WRX premium is the first time I have ever custom ordered a car.  I made sure that the new car had the features I fell in love with in the Impreza, such as continuously variable transmission, adaptive cruise control, pre-collision braking, lane keep assist, stability control, heated mirrors, blind-spot detection, rear cross-traffic alert, reverse automatic braking, auto-dimming rearview mirrors, and heated front seats.  The most important part of custom ordering this car was the choice of color, solar orange pearl.  Although I see many other Subaru models with this color, it's extremely rare to see a WRX in orange.

Like I have said before, life is too short to drive a boring car.

This new purchase also means it is time to say farewell to my 2015 Scion FR-S Release Series 1.0.  For the past nine and a half years my FR-S has given me just over seventy thousand miles of pure driving fun.  Every turn in the car was a true driving experience.  It rode like it was on rails.  Instant response from every driver input.  Always a fun drive.  From home to work, to Kansas, Skyline Drive, Charlotte, Minnesota, Pittsburgh to D.C.

I'm looking forward to many new adventures in my new WRX.
