Red, White and Boom! - 7/3/2024
Today Ben Hamms, Sarah Sigler, Addy, Jake, Emma, Crissy and I met in Columbus to Red, White and Boom! As we drove to
our usual parking garage at the Franklin County Courthouse, we were very disappointed to see that it was closed to event
parking. So we drove around just a bit and found parking at Columbus Commons.
We all walked together to our view site on the west bank of the Scioto River near the Main Street Bridge. There was
a threat of rain which may have explained why there were so few people anywhere near us. We set up our chairs and pop
up canopies then relaxed and visited together while we waited. Individually, some of us took a stroll across the river
to Civic Center Dr. to check out the food vendors. I ended up getting a Knockwurst from Schmidt's Sausage Truck.
As we waited, the skies continued to darken, and eventually there was heavy rain. But fortunately for us, we were all
able to huddle under the pop up canopies and stay dry for the most part.
Eventually, the rain stopped and the skies cleared somewhat. Ever with the more favorable weather the crowd didn't
grow to the size we were acustomed to for Boom. At 10 o'clock it was time for the fireworks to begin.
As always, Red, White and Boom!, was quite a spectacular fireworks display. And this year, the finale packed an extra
punch. I was very impressed.
It was a great evening, visiting with family, enjoying some food, relaxing, and a great fireworks display.
