Columbus Air Show - 6/15/2024
Emma, Jake, Crissy, Sarah and I spent the day at the Columbus Air Show at Rickenbacker International Airport.
We arrived just as the Opening Ceremony was going on at 11:30 with the National Anthem and flyover by the Ohio ANG KC-135R
Stratotanker & U.S. Air Force F-35A Lightning II.
We made our way near the viewing line and found a place to put our chairs. And then we began visiting some of the ground
displays. First we toured through a KC-135 Stratotanker.

We also walked through the huge C-5 Galaxy.

Some of the other ground displays that we saw included the B-25J Mitchell, F-22 Raptor, C-17 Globemaster III, F-35A Lightning II
and F-16 Fighting Falcon.
We moved your chairs to a better viewing location and got ourselves some lunch from the food vendors. During all this time
there have been various aircraft performances, including U.S. Navy F/A-18 Super Hornet Demo, and U.S. Navy F/A-18 Super Hornet &
FG-1D Corsair Legacy Flight, Edge 540 - Bill Stein, STOL Drag Competition, Carol Pilon Third Strike Wingwalking, F-5B Tiger II,
P-51C Mustang Red Tail and Jack Aces - P-51 Demonstration Team.

We settled into our seats to watch the final performances of the day; WWII Battle Reenactment, Pitts S-2S - Skip Stewart,
Smoke-n-Thunder Jet Car and the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds.
The Thunderbirds concluded at about 3:45 and the crowds began to head out, but we decided to take our time and avoid the rush
of traffic. Emma took this time to get autographs from the Thunder crew and pilots.
We finally walked out to the car and hit the road about 4:30 and most of the traffic had already dissipated. The weather
throughout the day was beautiful with pleasant temperatures and mostly sunny skies. It was a great day together with my
family.
