 Barbie - 8/20/2023
Sarah and I met at the Athena Grand this evening to watch Barbie. This fantasy comedy starred Margot
Robbie, Ryan Gosling, America Ferrera, Kate McKinnon, Simu Liu, Will Ferrell and Rhea Perlman.
This live action film begins in the stylized fantasy world of Barbieland. Barbie starts to feel that there may
be more to her life than the beach and nightly parties. Her adventure takes her to the real world and eventually
has to battle to save Barbieland from being taken control of by a misogynistic group.
The movie is funny and the hyper visual of Barbie's world looks great on the big screen. Margot Robbie is
perfect as Barbie and America Ferrera really stands out in her role. For me, this movie didn't live up to all of
its immense hype. It didn't have the emotional impact that I was led to believe was coming in the end.
