 Oppenheimer IMAX - 7/23/2023
This afternoon I met Jake and Owen at AMC Easton Town Center to watch Oppenheimer in IMAX. This epic
biographical thriller starred Cillian Murphy, Emily Blunt, Matt Damon and Robert Downey Jr. and was written and
directed by Christopher Nolan.
The movie follows J. Robert Oppenheimer from 1926 as a 22-year-old doctoral student, through World War II, when
Lt. Gen. Leslie Groves Jr. appoints Oppenheimer to work on the top-secret Manhattan Project, to its fruition on
July 16, 1945, as they witness the world's first nuclear explosion, and the aftermath with Oppenheimer dealing with
his afflicted soul and his treatment by the US government and peers in the decades that followed.
The film is structured very well and has many of the traits you would expect from Christopher Nolan. It is
visually stunning and has a great sound design. It has a full star studded cast and excellent performances
from each and every actor. Even though the cinematography is great, I don't feel that seeing it in IMAX is a
requirement.
This is a great movie. You really must go see it in the theater.
