Assateague Island and Ocean City - 8/7/2022
Today was the beginning of a four-day family vacation on the Atlantic shores of Maryland.  Sarah and I drove together,
while Emma, Jake and Crissy rode in their car and we all met up on the coast.  Over the three nights of our vacation we
will be making our hotel stay in Ocean City, Maryland, but our first stop was Assateague Island.
On the island there are actually two parks, a state park and the Assateague Island National Seashore.  We turned onto
the road to the national park which was backed up with traffic.  As we inched along the road it wasn't long before we saw
the wild horses the island is known for, including a colt.
After some time we finally reached the entrance to the park where we paid for our parking pass and made our way to the
parking lot.  Sarah and I took in the sites around the parking area while we waited for Emma Jake and Crissy.  Once
they arrived we all made our way to the beach.  Along the way we spotted more horses.
Emma enjoyed the beach and we all took in the sights and sounds.

After taking in the views of the sky, water, sand and horses it was time for us to check into our accommodations in Ocean
City about 30 miles north.
We checked into our adjacent rooms on the fifth floor of our hotel where we had ocean view rooms.
We took a break to settle into our accommodations and relax a spell before getting dinner.
We all drove together to Fish Tales Bar and Grill on Herring Way on the bayside of Ocean City.  This place was
hopping.  They had a large outdoor eating area with sand, umbrellas and trees.  Just steps away from our table was
a play area for Emma and the other kids.
We all have a few specialty drinks and eat a variety of seafood.  I had the shrimp.  In the end, we tallied up a
bit of a tab, but it doesn't really matter because we're on vacation.
Once back at the hotel, we saw that the door to our room faced west, so we were even able to get a view of the sunset just
before 8pm.
To my surprise, there are also horses on the beach outside the hotel.  This time they were police horses.
Tomorrow we will set off to explore the boardwalk.
