Back to Kings Island - 6/22/2021
I took today off of work and drove to Kings Island. This was my first adventure of the year out to an
amusement park.
I arrived about a half hour before the park opened at 11am, and my season pass allowed me in for early entry
rides. I managed to get two quick laps on Orion before the lines opened to the general public, the first
of which was in the front row.
I also rode The Beast, Mystic Timbers, WindSeeker and rode to the top of the Eiffel Tower. I had a
delightful spin on the Grand Carousel watching the parents enjoying their time with their kids and even infants.
The biggest surprise of the day was my ride on Racer. The coaster was the smoothest I have ever experienced
on this ride and possible on any traditional wooden coaster. The re-tracking work the park has done over the
off-season is incredible.
I chose to visit the park today based on the weather forecast which was calling for cloudy skies, cool temperatures
and even a slight chance of light rain. I expected there to be a smaller crowd and I would "have the park to
myself'. Apparently, everyone else had the same exact idea. The park was becoming more and more crowded
with each passing moment. And as it turned out the skies were nearly perfectly clear.
Around 2:00 the lines for almost all of the rides were incredibly long. Lines for Diamondback and Banshee
were too long for me to wait in. And the line for Bat was the longest I have ever seen for that coaster.
It was clear to me that I didn’t have the patience to wait in any of these lines, so I decided to head home. It
was still a good day to finally get out to the park.
