Exciting OU Hockey win over Penn State - 1/12/2008
Tonight Matt and I went to Bird Arena for the OU Hockey game. The #8 ranked Bobcats played against the #2 ranked Penn State
Icers. Why they are not the Nittany Lions is beyond me. The arena was packed and the crowd was rockin'!
Ohio was ahead or tied with Penn State throughout regulation play. Momentum swung back and forth during the game. At the end
of regulation the teams were tied at 6 goals each. The Bobcats began the sudden death overtime period one man down in a 4 on 3 power
play. During much of overtime the play surrounded Ohio goalie Paul Marshall. Marshall and the Bobcats' great defensive play were
enough to keep the Icers from scoring and sent the game to a shootout.
The Ohio goalie was able to reject all of Penn State's shots. Meanwhile, senior, Dave Fitzgerald and freshman, Gerry Raymond were able
to power their shots past the Icers' goalie to give Ohio an 8-6 victory over Penn State.
An exhilarating and thrilling game!
Bonus...free 50th Anniversary Ohio Hockey T-shirt.
