 Doctor Sleep - 11/11/2019
Tonight I went to Movies 10 in Nelsonville to see Doctor Sleep. The thriller starred Ewan McGregor, Kyliegh Curran
and Rebecca Ferguson and directed by Mike Flanagan.
This film stands on its own, and is also the sequel to 1980’s The Shining directed by Stanley Kubrick. Both films
were based on novels by Stphen King. Doctor Sleep follows the story of now-adult Dan Torrance as he deals with his
past and finds his way where must protect a young girl with similar powers. The girl is pursued by a cult known as The True
Knot, who prey on children with these powers to remain immortal.
McGregor does an excellent job in this role. The story, sound design, music and set design each work to have many callbacks
to the original film.
If you liked the previous movie in any way, you should really make an effort to see this one. For those who have not seen
the 1890 film, this movie holds up in its own right.
This was a great thriller. Go see this movie.
