Lincoln - 11/25/2012
This evening Sarah and I went to see Lincoln at Movies 10 in Nelsonville. This drama starred Daniel Day-Lewis, Sally Field
and David Strathairn.
This biography covers the final four mouths of Lincoln's life while he worked to pass the thirteenth amendment to the constitution, which
ended slavery in the United States.
Daniel Day-Lewis does an amazing job of playing the role of President Lincoln. His looks, speech, manerisms and even walk are exactly
as you would imagine the real Lincoln to be. His performance is Oscar-worthy
Sally Field played the role of Mary Todd Lincoln and does an excellent job as well.
The rest of the cast is full of other familiar faces on the big screen, including Tommy Lee Jones, James Spader, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and Hal
Holbrook. Each of which does a fine job of bringing this great story to life.
This is a great story and the film tells it very well. The movies shows Lincoln's conviction, dedication and at times his passion for
his cause. The president also has to deal with balancing the burdens of the war and possible peace talks along with his desire to push the
amendment through the House of Representatives. Director, Steven Spielberg is great at delivering this detailed story and maintaining a
pace that carries the audience through this critical page in our history.
This is a great movie. Every American should go see this movie.
Spoiler alert: Lincoln dies.
