Kura Revolving Sushi Bar - 11/15/2025

In less than two weeks, Sarah will be headed off on a trip with Jake to Tokyo, Japan.  And she wanted to experience sushi in America and then be able to compare that to the sushi that she will have during her trip.  So, Sarah arranged for her and I to go to Kura Revolving Sushi Bar at Polaris in Columbus for lunch today.

Kura Revolving Sushi Bar

The restaurant is unlike any I've been to before.  There is a continuously moving conveyor belt which passes by each table with various foods on small individual plates.  For each item you choose you press a button at the front of the plate which releases the clear dome over the plate and you remove the plate and place it on your table.  There is a wide variety of Sushi options, rolls, vegetables, desserts, and fruit.  There is also a touchscreen above the table where you can view additional menu items made to order and drinks.  Our drinks were delivered to us by a robot.

As the food items moved by, I reviewed the wide variety of options available.  I thought this was a good opportunity to try some foods that I have never had before.  So, I tried the eel and octopus.  The eel was excellent due mainly to the delicious sauce.  We both found that the octopus was simply fine, with very little flavor and was chewy.

Another delicacy that Sarah introduced me to was Inari.  These are pouches of fried tofu skin filled with vinegared sushi rice and had a slightly sweet and savory flavor.  I really liked this.

I enjoyed the Umami Cucumber Salad, while Sarah preferred Edamame the more that I did.  She also suggested Tamago which was also good.

For dessert we ordered the Green Tea and Strawberry Mochi Ice Cream combo which was delicious.

It was a very good meal and a great variety of diverse flavors.  I'm really glad I had this opportunity to share this delicious experience with Sarah.  And I hope she enjoys her vacation with Jake to Japan later this month.
