 Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour - 10/19/2023
This evening I took Sarah out for dinner in Athens, and then we saw Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour at the Athena
Grand in Athens. This concert film was recorded at the first three of six Los Angeles shows of the tour from August
3 to 5, 2023, at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California.
Tickets were not Athena Grand's usual $5.00, instead they were agreed upon by Taylor, herself and the film distributor,
AMC. Prices were set at $19.89 for adults, a reference to Swift's re-recorded album 1989 (Taylor's Version), and
$13.13 for children and seniors, a reference to Swift's lucky number, 13.
The film excellently captured the concert in its entirety. There was no time wasted on superfluous shots of the
adoring fans in the audience. Camera movements were fluid and not a frame was out of focus.
The sound mix was perfect. The music and vocals were perfectly balanced, and was never drowned out by the screaming
crowd.
With a runtime of two hours and 48 minutes, you would think that it would feel a bit too long. But the concert moved
along at exactly the right pace. This is the best concert film I have ever seen.
